Resumé

I have been drawn to helping others since I was very young and eventually found my way into a healing profession. Twelve years into my 25-year career as an outpatient physical therapist (PT), I began the study of Viniyoga. In 2012 after completing a 500-hour training at the Healing Yoga Foundation in San Francisco, I was certified as a Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation Healing Yoga Teacher. I continued my studies in Viniyoga and in 2017 I earned certification as a Yoga Therapist from the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT).

The Viniyoga teachings had a profound effect on my practice as a PT. The application of Yoga tools in the context of physical therapy gave me ways to influence and understand the human system in multiple dimensions. So often my physical therapy patients’ issues were compounded by fear, anxiety, depression, impulsiveness, lethargy, or insomnia. Now I had tools that I could integrate into the physical practice which allowed my patients to address these issue too; holistic healing ensued.

In 2020 I retired from my PT position and began focusing on building a Yoga Therapy practice. I love to teach and throughout my education and professional life I have taught in various settings. I am an IAYT Approved Professional Development Provider.

In my free time, I spend as much time as possible alone in the woods; I am interested in mushrooms and lichen. I also enjoy cooking and preparing special meals for friends and loved ones, gardening, spending time with my dogs, and playing music. Before I became a medical professional I was a semi-professional drummer.
